A grid of AI-generated abstract images in AI Image Explorer

AI Image Explorer began in April 2023 as ImagesBot, at imagesbot.com. It is a way to brainstorm with images: you search for an idea, and instead of one picture you get a spread of different takes on it.

Behind each search, a language model rewrites your words into many concepts. Each one is a dense list of artists, eras, lighting, materials and moods, with a style such as anime, isometric or analog film, and an image model (Stable Diffusion XL at first) draws it. The search starts broad. As you click the images you like, the model blends their concepts into new ones, keeping the core ideas and dropping the fringe ones, so the results narrow toward a style you chose by pointing instead of writing prompts. That suits mood boards, brand ideas, game assets and website graphics.

It was one of my first experiments in pairing language models with image models. It now lives at aiimageexplorer.com.
